Talk:Software Directory

From wiki.gp2x.org

Is the 'work in progress'/finalised distinction important here? Software should be here once it's usable as opposed to when it's in development and on the WIP page. Does anyone ever consider their software 'final'?

Most games will stay VIP for a long time and already run smooth. It'd just add anohter layer of bloat. Instead one could add version numbers. (no_skill)

I guess this list is heavily out of sync. Is it really smart to attempt such a thing? If we have no constant maintainer this will never be up-to-date... no_skill

  • no this list un-needed, because for currrent software people will check the archive anyway. Close this section - Synkro 18:46, 1 December 2005 (GMT)

How about keeping it but only keep the software that got its own page on this wiki? VirUZI

  • KEEP! I believe this page IS essential but would a whole lot more useful if their were a column to show when the piece of software was most recently updated and a current version number??
  • How do people feel about adding a column for "source available?" Is this the best database of applications on the web? Gizbot 11:38, 7 February 2006 (PST)
I'm for a DELETE in favor of Category:Software and the archive. A wiki is not the best way to maintain a software database, the archives is a better solution for this. Hoewever, pages with (collaborative) games descriptions and information have a place on a wiki. What would be great is the have the archive to automaticaly it's entry to their page on the wiki.--mongolito404 02:50, 10 July 2006 (PDT)

Source?

I asked this a bit ago. Unless anyone objects, I'll put in a 'source' column this week. It would show "Included" for downloads where the source is included and "Available" for downloads where the source can be found off a home page.--Gizbot 20:11, 12 February 2006 (PST)

Game rating and layout

Hi,

What do you guys/gals think of adding a column for game ratings?

And also I find the table layout is too heavy and hard to use. We need another layout schema. How about using templates or just sections with bullets??

--Cribe 19:10, 23 May 2006 (PDT)

Using categories to generate the lists and putting all the information in an InfoBox in each individual pages is easier than maintaining this huge page usint table (or templates). The only thing we would lost is "all information in one big page" (we can have subcategories). See Category:Games and Category:WIP for examples.--mongolito404 02:45, 10 July 2006 (PDT)

Hey I found this nice table layout what do you guys think about it?

Gee thanks for the reply I was thinking no one read the talk pages... --Cribe
We read them, just only once every 3 months. :) --Yono 19:39, 24 July 2006 (PDT)
