I believe the system not booting is due to the fact it does not enough power. If you limit the current to 1A, it will most certainly not boot one time or the other. My unit draws a peak of at least 1.6A from the batteries during post and boot. If you limit the current, the voltage goes down and the unit hangs.
It would be nice with some new current drawing information since fw 1.0.x is quiet old.
More information about the DC/DC converter for the batteries would also be nice.
I just received an official GP2X power supply and the output is +3,3V / 2.0A and not 1A as stated in the article...
