Talk:Audio Encoding

From wiki.gp2x.org

Necessity?

Wikipedia has much more comprehensive articles on the subject. Isn't it a bit silly to create a smaller page on aunrelated wiki when we could just link to Wikipedia?

See Rule Number One for more information. --Yono 18:04, 17 November 2006 (PST)

The main reason for this page ( And the video encoding one ) is to provide gp2x-specific information (ie following rule one). At the moment this is obviously not so - but information on different supported codecs, recommended bitrates and encoder settings and so forth should prove useful. That, and it was requested on Talk:Video Encoding.
The next things that I want to do are add a discussion of video and audio bitrates that are the right quality for the gp2x ( on the respective pages) - this is a pretty commonly asked question, as well as working out what bitrates work on the different play levels on the movie player (ie Save, Normal and Full)
If you can recommend any specific programs for audio reencoding (Preferably not commandline, and preferably one that keeps id3 tags when transcoding) then that would be great :)
