GamePark Holdings Wiz

The GP2X Wiz is an open-source, Linux-based handheld video game console and media player created by GamePark Holdings of South Korea. It is the successor to the GP2X, the first handheld created by GamePark Holdings.

An image of the Wiz system was first leaked on the web in late July of 2008<ref>[1] Post by Zodttd on his website with leaked Wiz image</ref>. Rumors had been circulating that GamePark Holdings was in the process of making a new handheld, since they had abruptly discontinued production of its first handheld, the GP2X, in late June/early July.

On August 26, 2008, an announcement that GamePark Holdings was planning to release a new handheld, named the Wiz<ref>[2] Post about GP2X Wiz announcement on</ref>. Along with the announcement, a brochure detailing a great amount of launch information was released, complete with the system's specs<ref>[3] GP2X Wiz Brochure</ref>. The brochure stated that new games would be released every month for the system; commercial games were not too common on the GP2X, and so this is a bit of a deviation from the GP2X. However, the Wiz still appears to be primarily advertised as an open-source system, meant for homebrew development of games and emulators.

Retailers for the GP2X Wiz have stated that they plan to begin shipping the GP2X Wiz as soon as October 8, 2008. As of August 26, 2008, retailers are listing the price of the Wiz at $179.99 USD<ref>[4] Dynamism product page, states GP2X Wiz expected ship date is October 8th, 2008.</ref>.

Planned accessories for the GPH Wiz are the Accessory Kit (which comes with a SD card case, a wrist strap, and a spare stylus), a screen protector, and a Genuine Leather Case. <ref>[5] Play-Asia has listed the prices as $18.90 USD for the accessory kit, $8.90 USD for the Leather Case, and $4.90 for the screen protector. </ref>

As of September 2nd it has been reported that the GP2x Wiz will have a revision of the button layout and will remove the second dpad on the right side. Due to the change the release will be pushed back to November (tentative)<ref>[6] Post by EvilDragon on forums</ref>.

Based on the specs released by GPH, the Wiz appears to have a considerably more slim and compact form factor than that of the GP2X. The Wiz also has a fairly large amount of built in flash memory, which GPH has stated will be used to hold games that will be included with the system. OLED screens are supposed to have a much faster response time than that of standard LCD screens, as well as increased brightness and an increased viewing angle. The specs released by GPH did not state whether or not SD Card support implied SDHC support or not. Since t
